December to July follows the migration south to north
The Serengeti is vast enough that where you stay determines what you see, and the herds move through it across the year. Charter is what makes following them practical: airstrips at Seronera, Kogatende, Ndutu, Grumeti and Lobo let you position in the right sector for the season.
Following the migration
- December to March. Calving on the southern short-grass plains around Ndutu.
- April to June. The herds move west and north through the Grumeti corridor.
- July to October. Mara River crossings in the north around Kogatende.
Cross-border
Mara to Serengeti is a short sector, but it is an international crossing. We handle the customs and immigration clearance at both ends — do not expect to do this informally.
